Zya Smit: Namibia's Rising Fashion Icon Takes the Modeling World by Storm
Born and raised in the stunning landscapes of Namibia, Zya Smit's childhood was filled with adventures. From exploring the iconic Sossusvlei to wandering through The Deadvlei with her parents, she developed a profound appreciation for her homeland's natural beauty. Zya realized early on that these scenic spots, which she visited frequently, were cherished by many who travelled far and wide to experience them just once.
As a young girl, Zya initially dreamt of becoming a fashion designer. However, her fascination with creatively designed clothing shifted her focus. Believing that fashion is a powerful form of self-expression, she passionately advocates that personal style matters the most.
Zya owes much of her confidence and determination to her supportive family, particularly her mom. Their unwavering encouragement, even in the face of failures, instilled in her the importance of gaining experience and exploring her interests.
Zya's journey into the world of modelling began at the age of six. Though she took a brief hiatus, she returned at nine to a new agency. It was here that she learned the nuances of dressing and self-maintenance. Her first steps on the runway affirmed her love for modelling and set her on a path she's passionate about.
Participating in the AIM project on the MSC Orchestra cruise ships was a pivotal moment for Zya. Walking in front of international scouts and engaging in workshops gave her valuable insights into the fashion world. Winning her first acting medal further ignited her determination.
Zya's personal style is an eclectic mix of "old money meets teenage girl meets comfort." From casual jeans and tank tops to elegant bell-bottom jeans paired with chic shirts, she loves experimenting. Her fashion inspirations include iconic brands like Ralph Lauren, Jimmy Choo, Dior, Chanel, and Prada.
While Zya is still a newcomer in the industry, she's brimming with aspirations. She dreams of collaborating with prestigious brands like Swarovski, Dolce & Gabbana, Guess, Prada, Maybelline, and L'Oreal.
Outside of modelling, Zya indulges in arts and crafts, including painting and DIY projects. She also values her physical health and enjoys gym sessions to stay fit. A keen observer of human behaviour, she often spends her school holidays at cafes or malls, admiring figures like Michelle Obama, Marilyn Monroe, and Kevin Hart for their inspirational stories.
Zya's advice to aspiring models and actors is simple yet profound: avoid comparisons and stay humble, even in victory.
